Udaipur is where everyone falls in love

A small town of Rajasthan sitting in the lap of Aravali hills and holding the glory of its 16th-century ruler Maharana Pratap is what Udaipur seems to be for non-natives. But the city is much more than that and it’s quite easy for anyone who sets his foot in it to get awestruck by the beauty.

Indeed, the city offers every reason to fall in love with it. Over time, the city has earned names like the city of lakes and the Venice of the East. Perhaps, this is why you’ll see global and domestic tourists roaming in the city all around the year.

The city encloses many monuments that are evidence of its glorious past. Many of them are the developments that took place during the reign of the iconic King Maharana Pratap. If you want to go back in the time and get a glimpse of history, you need to visit them.

City Palace

Out of the many castles of Udaipur, and the most magnificent one is the City Palace. It lies on the banks of Lake Pichola and on the hilltop. Due to its unique architectural design, one can see the million-dollar panoramic view of the city from the palace. Inside, you’ll find many gateways to enter this giant palace that includes Sheesh mahal, Badi Mahal, Amar villas, etc. Each of them has their own speciality and together, they make the City Palace the most unique castle.

Saheliyo ki Bari

On the banks of Fatehpur lake, there is a four-decades-old garden known as Saheliyo ki Bari. Due to good maintenance, the garden looks beautiful and has flowers blooming to this day.

Lakes around and in Udaipur

Additionally, this city of lakes has many freshwater lakes that offer picturesque landscapes to mesmerize you. The lake Pichola is the most stunning lake that encompasses many small islands. Some of them have palaces and pavilions. Besides, there is another lake that lies in the mountain craves of Aravali hill is Fateh Sagar. It is also the widest lake in the city and showcases the advanced ancient engineering. There are not many activities to do but one can enjoy views while boating on these lakes.

Puppet Museum

Undoubtedly, the famous puppet shows are a window to get a glimpse of Rajasthani art. If you are keen on that, then you need to visit the Puppet Museum of Udaipur. With a young crowd, you can enjoy puppet shows there that depict folklore and local stories.

Besides, the scenic surroundings of Udaipur also attract many filmmakers. From locals to the Bollywood blockbusters to Hollywood, the city is a hotspot for shooting all kinds of movies. Nevertheless, Udaipur was even got featured in legendary Hollywood movies like Octopussy of the Bond series and Heat and Dust. So, don’t be in a shock if you encounter any group of people rolling up the cameras here.

Whether you’re a casual backpacker or a history enthusiast or a nature lover or just a foodie, but the city of Udaipur is capable of delighting you. Unquestionably, this awe-inspiring city should be on the top of your bucket list for vacations.
